Cargill, the global food and agriculture leader and Alking Bioengineering, China’s ARA industrialization pioneer, today jointly announced that the arachidonic acid (ARA) joint venture Cargill Alking Bioengineering kicked off operation of the second production facility in Gedian Hubei. Cargill Alking aims to become Asia’s largest ARA production base and intends to promote Chinese food industry into a global market with Cargill’s expertise in food safety management and global network.
Referring to Cargill’s global food safety expertise, Yi Dewei, Chairman of Alking Bioengineering said, “This is one of main reasons why we chose Cargill as our partner. Utilizing Cargill’s expertise in food safety management and its broad global network, we will be able to help promote Chinese food industry into a global market.”
Cargill Alking is now the top leader in China’s ARA market. “The combination of Cargill’s global food safety expertise and Alking’s position as China’s ARA industrialization pioneer has contributed to the success of Cargill Alking,” said Greg Page, Cargill’s Global CEO. “The new facility highlights a significant advancement of our partnership,” Mr. Page added.
As an important material for infants’ brain and optic nerve development, ARA is an essential ingredient in infant food products. The Cargill Alking facility applies advanced food safety technology and implements Cargill’s corporate food safety manual to minimize food safety risk.
“Cargill Alking uses good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and a critical control point process, from raw material selection through to product delivery to customers. The new facility will enable us to offer high quality products to customers around the world,” said David Henstrom, Vice Chairman of Cargill Alking.
